July 23rd-25th Edisford Bridge Farm, Clitheroe

We had 9 units on this rally with Tony and Sheila as rally marshalls, and Friday afternoon the weather was lovely and just right for erecting the party tent.

Thanks for help we received putting up the tent and also for taking it down, many hands make light work, and the jobs done in no time.

Friday evening it was into the party tent for a quiz, which was won by Ruth and Graham , they won a bottle of wine but no chance in Ruth getting drunk it was only a small bottle, then we all had a good natter and catch up with the latest news.

Nancy and Marlene with caribbean doll that Nancy had made

Steve and Joanne couldn't make the rally, but we all wish them a Happy Wedding Day for 28th July, and enjoy your holiday/honeymoon in France.

Saturday the weather was bright and warm, quite a few went into Clitheroe for shopping and some went into Skipton.

John and Sandra had arrived so then the rally was complete.

Into the party tent in the evening,

We had bingo for a change seems such a long time since we've played, but prize bingo made it just a little bit different, perhaps you could think of something different and we could give it a go? We where all discussing our hols and saying when we would all meet up again.

The key box was next it already had £15 in the box, when everyone had bought tickets there was £36 to be won, everyone purchased their tickets, and Tony's number won, he didn't pick the right key but got £5 for useless key, the key was put into key box, so now there is £31 in the box, and only 8 keys to choose from next time.

We had just a little snack, and before long it was 11pm and time for bed,

Sunday morning Raffle and prizegiving - the adults competition was won by Sue, and the 6-12 won by Aleysha and runner up Carina.

I'd like to say thanks to Aleysha and Carina for the good job they made of selling raffle tickets what a good help they where, and also for donations for the raffle.

Happy Birthday to Sue and Nancy for next week, (its a big one for Sue!!)

Once again thanks to all for attending rally without you there wouldn't be a rally, and thanks for help taking down tent.

Sheila

July 9th -11th  Fell View Park, Scorton

Rally Marshals Bobby and Sue

We had 10 units on this rally which made it rather cosy, lovely site, beautiful views, peaceful, and a lovely fishing lake on site. This rally was run by Sue and Nick assisted by Bobby and Bruce.

We had the party tent up all week-end, Friday evening  a get together and a natter and Sue did a picture quiz, which Ruth won, nice for a evening to meet and greet friends we haven't seen for a while. ( even if it was only 2 weeks ago)

Saturday free day to go shopping, laze around, go for a walk or fish, dry day with just a little shower every now and again.

Saturday evening in the party tent 7.30 for the frog racing, Gerald wasn't there to battle for his title, everyone joined in BUT Alan was crowned Frog King and runner up was teenager Tom.

We had a few bets on who we thought would win, some of us made some good judgements,  a good time was had by all, Alan was crowned Frog King and Tom runner up, Frog Prince

.

Alan was taking the bets, what a load of gamblers we are, some won up to £1, think they might be booking a holiday with that amount...

We all went into the tent for evening entertainment, Sue had asked us all to fetch baby photo's and we had to guess who they were? some were easy others not so easy, Sandra won that competition with 14 right out of 16, well done!!

We then had a advert quiz, Sue's son had done us a CD with the sounds /music of adverts and we had to guess what they where, Colin and Carla won that competition, now we all know they watch a LOT of TV. Later in the evening we did they Key Draw, you buy a raffle ticket if your number comes out you pick a key, if you open the box you get whats in, which was £20, if the key dosen't fit you get £5 and the key gets put into the box and it gets carried over for next rally, now there is £15 in the box and only 9 keys to pick from. Phil's number got picked but he did'nt  pick the right key so he got £5, and the £15 is carried over.

The evening ended up with us all having a natter, and before long it was time for bed.

Sunday morning ,dry morning , so glad we had to take party tent down and did'nt want it wet. Sue and Nick gave all competition winners prizes, which was - Alan Frog King, Colin and Carla music quiz, Sandra baby comp, colouring comp to Lauren and Carina and Tom for teenagers. Enjoyed our cakes makes a change from biscuits. We had our raffle and all too soon time for home, but not before everyone helped to take the party tent down, many hands make light work, thanks to everyone for help, much appreciated, and thanks also to Sue, Nick ,Bobby and Bruce for this week-end, and everyone else for coming, all have a good summer holiday and hope to see you all after your hols. Sheila

Scarisbrick Village Hall

11th-13th June

This rally was  run by Alan and Ann with assistance from Sue and Nick

Friday evening all arrived, lovely evening, nice flat field with childrens playground and tennis courts attached we went the hall , Sue and Nick  who was helping Alan and Ann gave us a game of silly bingo, we hadn't played this before so again it was something different, done by different people. Its just the ordinary game but much better prizes. Steve will vouch for that he won a new water container for his caravan and a self portrait, Christine won a rotary washing line, quess who won the booby prize, NO not ME, it was Ruth she had the privilege of selling raffle tickets at coffee a very special job.

We had a visitor from Coventry Morris 'Zena and her family and new members, first time  out on a rally Bill and Marylyn, hope they enjoyed our company and will try us again.

Saturday some people went out shopping it was another beautiful day, and others played aunt sally on the field. Everyone was soon getting ready for evening football, England virsus USA on a 50in screen curtisy of Alan and Ann.

Into the hall 7-15 for kick-off

Ann painting Tonys faceOn with the football, what more can man want!!!

The score was 1-1 never mind they will have to keep trying. Next we had a quiz, goodness knows where Alan got the questions from, we did find out Sunday morning he put the trivia book on the raffle. Julie/Steve/Bob and Christine won the quiz ,m the prize was a dish washer, see what you all missed.

Then we had music with Graham with our new speakers and lights, and dancing.

At the end of the evening Ann gave us all magic lanterns and we all went outside and lit them and they went up into the sky, we all made a wish, bet it was to win the lottery.

Caravans in field                                                          Trying to get lanterns alight                                         New disco lights.

Alternative rally

May 28th -31st  Low Hall Farm, Whittington

Rally Marshalls

This was a alternative rally to Flamingoland, which was well supported, so will be run again next year. The rally was run by Sue and Nick with help from Bobby and Bruce, the following is a write up from SUE ON HER RALLY.

Low Hall Farm,

Whittington, Kirkby Lonsdale

28th – 31st May 2010

Finished work and set off home to get ready for the Bank Holiday weekends rally. The sun was shining the van and car was loaded with everything that we needed for the weekend in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Traffic was a bit busy on the M6 but we eventually got on site after 1 ½ hours travelling to be greeted by Bobbie and Bruce who had got there at lunch time to site the vans and help us out over the weekend.

The site is just outside Kirkby Lonsdale on the edge of the  little village of Whittington. A beautiful part of our country with panoramic views all the way around us.

We got the party tents up and everyone was ready for a good weekend.

We had 18 units booked on the rally one of those were tenters.

One unit were new ralliers Phil and Glenys Dickson from Buckshaw Village.

Quite a few members joined us in the party tent for a picture quiz and a general chat and catch up with everyone. Joanne, Steve and Ellie won the picture quiz. They won a box of Toffee’s which were handed around. After a good catch up with a good laugh we all retired and off to bed to recharge our batteries for the next day as there was a Treasure Trail that had been set by the Rally Marshals and quite a few members wanted to do it in the morning.

Saturday woke up to lovely rain. Some members ventured out to attempt the Treasure Trail that had been set. Others went out and some just stayed in and did the competitions that had been set by Sue.

In the afternoon Joanne asked us if her sister who was a member could come on the rally as she had just bought a new caravan and was picking it up now was going to nip home fill it up and then come on the rally. Of course we said they could come on the rally. Zena towed the van herself as Mark was working. Well done Zena and Happy New Van to the Broadbent family.

At night we all gathered in the party tents. The Kirkhams, Broadbents and Kayes didn’t join us as they were watching the Eurovision Song Contest. Now isn’t that sad?

Sue had set another quiz of Letters and Numbers which was eventually won by new ralliers Phil and Glenys. They won a box of sweeties which were shared all round.

There was a jar of sweets filled to the brim with jelly beans, jelly babies and fruit pastilles and everyone had to guess how many sweets were in the jar. It was free to have a go and the nearest guess won the contents of the jar. Guesses ranged from 83 to 306. The actual contents of the jar were 187 and the winning guess of 186 was won by Alan Simm who was really pleased with himself and immediately passed the jar round. Big Mistake Alan. Alan then went out of the party tent for a fix (smoke) when he got back all the sweets had gone. Alan was gutted and started to stamp his feet a bit. He wasn’t a happy chappie. If you look at the photos of the rally Alan you will see who the culprits are.

Nick had gone round during the day selling Bonus Ball guesses for a £1 each.

We eventually found out the winning Bonus Ball number was 41 and the winner was J. Roberts Syndicate. Gerald picked up the winnings of £49 to be shared between them all. Well done.

Then a game of ‘Deal Or No Deal’ began.

The winning player picked to attempt to outsmart the Banker was non other than new rallier Glenys.

It was nail biting. The Banker was a nasty piece of work to contend with. He once offered Glenys £0.50p and a pair of Adam’s used underpants (or so that’s what Sue thought the Banker said ha ha) The party tent was in uproar until the Banker rang back and stated that he didn’t say Adam’s used underpants he said an Arabs used underpants. We all thought the first offer was the funniest of the two.

Glenys went all the way and eventually won £1.50p. Well Done Glenys.

The rest of the money that was left over was decided on a game of Stand Up Bingo.

The winner was non other than Adam Wade. Well Done Adam. The winnings paid for the weekend.

We all had a chat and drink and finished the night on a high. A good night was had by everyone who attended.

Sunday we woke up to blue skies and a little breezy. A big change from the previous days weather.

Everyone went off site to do the Treasure Trail.

Sunday afternoon DISASTER! A gust of wind came over the hills and blew the party tents over. Everyone rushed out to try and save the tents. Poles were bent but nothing was ripped and the tents hadn’t hit any cars or caravans thank god. Anyway the job was ruined so no social Sunday night.

We went out for a lovely meal in Kirkby Lonsdale and found a lovely little restaurant called the Copper Kettle and they served a 3 course meal for £7.95. It was lovely. Got back to van and chilled out.

Monday morning woke up to wall to wall sunshine. You might know we were going home today.

Had coffee morning and Julie closed the rally.

The Treasure Trail had four winners. The Simm, Finch, Savage and Hall families all had to draw cards to find out the winner. In the end the Savage family won. Well Done Ben for picking the highest card.

Adults competition had 2 winners. Finch and Thomas. After drawing cards again the Thomas family won.

Teens competition all 3 teenagers on site had the same correct so they all won a prize.

Children’s 7-12 yrs had to draw a picture of their caravan. They were all good and all 3 won a prize. It was too difficult to pick a winner between the 3 of them.

The children also had to do a little treasure trail of their own by collection certain items on the actual Treasure Trail. They all managed to get every single item. One of the items was a little piece of slate. Ellie brought what looked like a roof tile off the farmer’s barn. Could have only been her dad Steve who took that. Ellie is too little and too nice to do things like that.

Sue and Nick then thanked Bobbie and Bruce for all their help and everyone for supporting the rally and making it the success that it turned out to be. The members were then told that the rally had been booked for the following year at the same time.

The Raffle then took place and everyone had won something except little Ellie so Nick let her pick a prize when his ticket came out of the bag. A smile was on little Ellies face again.

The whole weekend was well supported by a group of lovely friends. We all had a really good time even those who did the Treasure Trail and who came back and complained about the bl***y steps they had to climb on one of the clues. All the complaints were said with conviction like we who set the Treasure Trail didn’t know what it was like to climb all of the steps. You all forget we set the Treasure Trail and we climbed all the steps too.  Think about poor Danny who took his dog along with him and his dog wouldn’t climb the steps so Danny had to climb up all 86 steps carrying his dog. Bless him, now that’s love

Good rally, good friends, goodish weather what more could you ask for on a Bank Holiday Weekend

May 28th - 5th June.    FLAMINGOLAND

A good rally, good friends nice area and good weather if not a little blowey. Steve and Joanne ran this rally with help from Laura and Ellie.

We had 19 units on rally, one of them Steve's mum and Dad from Coventry Morris, who brought Ben a guitarist from the group 'The Kirkys' who where performing for us Sunday Evening, and another was new members Dave and Tracy with their children, hope to see them again.

Friday evening a few of us went into the clubhouse, and the club did a quiz, funny we had 3 teams and we all got the same amount of questions right! Saturday free and easy day with club in evening in which we played games for the children, Steve did a pop quiz, some of the artists never heard off!!, then play your cards right, no-one won that night with £50 in the kitty to be carried over for Sunday, the music with DJ Graham.

The boys have come up to play for us much appreciated. Childrens games first, 10p game, musical chairs, smartie game, dancing and then the band.

All friends together, or so i thought!                                                             Galloping Galoshes ( Hobby Horses)

Sheila and Kath with steam engine                               Lots of Steam rollers and machinery                            More Steam

Well what a good turn out 17 vans and one arriving on Saturday, the Vintage and Steam Show was on this week-end, so it was fairly busy, but i think everyone enjoyed it, no complaints anyway!

If anyone was wondering why there was no signs out, we was told not too as it would confuse the exhibitors and they didn't want all the vintage vehicles going round the camp-site., theres always an explaination.

The weather was lovely this week-end and it made it all that bit better. Saturday night quite a few went into the club, some of us went into the quieter room, and a few went into the line-dancing room and of course those with children went into the childrens room where there was a entertainer on for them.

  Four Musketeers

Saturday evening they had bingo in the club and Karen won the full house, and it was worth winning, good on her!

Sunday morning came another walk round the show lots of old cars, bikes, wagons and stalls and then we went to meet Basil.

From the birds pry centre.

Coffee morning time to see who's won the quiz and childrens drawing and colouring.

Joseph won the drawing and colouring, and we had 2 winners for quiz, Julie and Steve and Sue and Nick we had to have a draw and Julie won, mind you she did pick her own ( think it was a fix! ). We had our raffle and then said our good-byes and hope to see you all shortly.  Sheila

12th-14th February - Barnoldswick

The rally marshals for this rally was Julie and Steve, assisted by Christine and Bob, 9 vans attended.

The Rolls Royce Club is an ideal venue for this time of year with hard standing and a club on site, and it also helps that the alcohol is a little cheaper than elsewhere, and you haven't far to go home. The surrounding area is nice if you want to go walking especially down the canal and see the locks, or visit Barnoldswick, or surrounding towns. The club was open to us all Friday evening with a quiz and bingo, bit more like mastermind for us club members, not used to such hard questions, needless to say none of our members won.

Saturday the weather was lovely, most people just went out shopping or walking. The club had meals on for Valentines Day and four of our members had a lovely meal and then joined us all later in the lounge. The club had a entertainer on' Debbie James' female singer, halfway through the evening they had a raffle which two of our members where lucky enough to win. Then more music and dancing until mid-night or perhaps a little later (I'm Cinderella so had to go home at mid-night)

Sunday morning and coffee morning and raffle and results of contest, Steve and Bob where very lucky some kind persons sent them a valentines card, IT WAS'NT their wives!!!!!  The childrens competition was won by Katie and Faye, and the adults wait for it ME, even after Tony told me the wrong answer to one of the questions, now i know i'd better do it myself next time.

After the raffle we all said our goodbyes, thanks to our rally marshals and hope to see each shortly.    Sheila

NEW YEARS RALLY 2010

Only 11 vans attended this rally, what with the weather, flu, but I'll tell you this you missed a great rally, Wednesday evening we had play your cards right no-one won ,there was £30 in the kitty to be carried over for to-morrow. , music, games and Carl and Mel made hamburgers for supper.

Thursday 31st we had a domino drive in the hall in the afternoon which was won by Andy and the booby prize went to Sue. Tea-time we had pie, peas and gravy for tea, then back to the van to get changed for New Year's Eve Party, we had a great jacobs join which is always popular, and great fun with our bus game, dancing and play your cards right again, it wasn't won £68 now in the kitty, we where all up well after mid-night still going strong with DJ Graham.

Friday 1st Jan in the afternoon we had horse racing, what fun picking horses with all comical names, trying to find a reason to back certain ones, Danny did very well and he won £20 and Lauren who came with Grandma and Grandad won £10, bet she was glad she came, look at all the funny hats we even had lights on some.

Alan and Ann

Friday evening we had frog racing with Sue and Nick with help from Lauren, what fun, they weren't half slippery, it took Sue ages to catch them, the final winner was Gerald so he got his crown.

                                                                                                                                                                      Winner - FROG CHAMPION GERALD

To-night its fancy dress and Sue and Nick did potatoe hash, went down really well, the winners of the fancy dress was Dave - Dracula, and Katie, Little Miss Sunshine

We had fun and games again with the bottle game, and play your cards right with £68 in the kitty we where all eager to win, it had to be won to-night as 3 vans are going home Saturday, all the children where exhausted and some couldn't keep awake.

Well time for play your cards right there's now £116 in the kitty, three people had a go, you wouldn't believe how many doubles come out, then it was Ruths turn, all the way NEARLY to the top, then the crunch, she said a higher card and it was a lower one, into the bag again and Karens number came out, one card to turn and of course she won, it was between 3 couples, good on them, it could have been me, i don't think! A good evening.

Saturday what a day the snow has now decided to come, and the frost, we are down to 8 vans now, Alan and Ann are doing a curry for tea, and later on they are doing a quiz bingo, in the evening we all sat round the table tennis table and played chase the ace, then the dice game, and listened to all the good times that Nancy and Carol have had, they had us all in fits of laughter, what a good pair, real good fun. The quiz bingo was won by Lauren and second prize went to Sue, pity her prize of a box of maltesers had to be shared by everyone, but we had to get them out of the box first with a straw, what a job i had, well you would have with Carol telling you about all the antics her and Nancy have got up to. All the time we where playing if anyone was out you got served with chicken dippers, satay, crisps, chocolates, Christmas Cake, nuts. The children on the rally had all been very good, one night they collected all the rubbish themselves, and each evening set the tables for us, these are our up and coming new members.

I'd like to thank everyone who came to the rally and hope they enjoyed it as much as me, roll on next year when i hope more members will be able to come
